Southland gas prices drop after reaching highest prices since 2012
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped slightly Monday, down one-tenth of a cent to $4.441, a day after reaching its highest amount since Oct. 22, 2012.
A six-day streak of increases totaling 2.4 cents ended Saturday when the average price dropped one-tenth of a cent, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The average price is 2.2 cents more than one week ago, 4.1 cents higher than one month ago and $1.244 greater than one year ago.
The Orange County average price dropped six-tenths of a cent to $4.403 after rising eight times in nine days. On Sunday, the price increased three-tenths of a cent to $4.409, its highest amount since Oct. 23, 2012.
The Orange County average price is 2.5 cents more than one week ago, 4.2 cents higher than one month ago and $1.242 greater than one year ago.
