Southland gas prices at highest amount since October 2012

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County resumed increasing Sunday after a one-day interruption, rising eight-tenths of a cent to $4.442, its highest amount since Oct. 22, 2012.

A six-day streak of increases totaling 2.4 cents ended Saturday when the average price dropped one-tenth of a cent, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The average price is 2.6 cents more than one week ago, 3.8 cents higher than one month ago and $1.24 greater than one year ago.

The Orange County average price rose for the eighth time in nine days, increasing three-tenths of a cent to $4.409, its highest amount since Oct. 23, 2012. It has risen 4.3 cents over the past nine days, including two-tenths of a cent Saturday.

The Orange County average price is 3 cents more than one week ago, 4.6 cents higher than one month ago and $1.24 greater than one year ago.
