While no official notice has been issued, local media reports that Pasadena City Manager Steve Mermell will retire in early December after serving the city for 32 years, five of those in his current position.
According to an email obtained by Pasadena Now, Mermell told employees he will be retiring on Dec. 2 and has informed City Council.
In 2016, Pasadena City Council approved the selection of then Assistant City Manager Mermell to the position of acting city manager, replacing then departing City Manager Michael Beck whose tenure was fraught with scandal.
This is a developing story and will be updated as news becomes available.
