Man charged with stabbing parents to death in Covina
A 33-year-old man was charged Tuesday with the stabbing murders of his parents inside a home in Covina.
Benjamin Mark Chavez is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in a Pomona courtroom on two counts of murder.
Chavez called 911 last Thursday afternoon and allegedly said he had stabbed two people inside the home. Police found his parents on the kitchen floor, Covina police Sgt. David Rodriguez told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
Daniel Chavez, 70, and April C. Chavez, 65, each died of multiple sharp force injuries, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Their son has remained behind bars since his arrest just after 3:15 p.m. last Thursday, according to jail records.
