Boy killed in Lawndale shooting; deputies seek suspect

Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday are seeking the suspect in a shooting in Lawndale that left a boy dead.

The shooting occurred at about 1:20 p.m. Monday in the 4700 block of 167th Street near Inglewood Avenue and the border with Redondo Beach, according to Sgt. Elvis Salas of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Salas said.

The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot on 167th Street, Salas said.
