Police Friday identified a suspect vehicle in the shooting death of a 27-year-old Pasadena man.

Ernesto Jimenez was found wounded and lying on the sidewalk in the 200 block of Parke Street, near Orange Grove Boulevard and Marengo Avenue around 8 p.m. on Nov. 13, 2020.

Jimenez was shot multiple times in the upper body and pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers who responded to the shots fired call later learned that Jimenez left his home after dinner and was walking to Villa Park when someone opened fire. He tried to run back to his residence but collapsed before he could reach the door.

Pasadena Police Department Robbery and Homicide investigators identified a 2012 or 2013 dark red or burgundy Mercedes-Benz 4-door sedan with large chrome wheels tucked into the wheel well as a suspect vehicle in the shooting.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on April 20 approved a $10,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of those responsible for the shooting.

Supervisor Kathryn Barger recommended the reward in Jimenez’s case.

Neighbors lovingly called Jiminez “Big Ernesto” and “Big Boy,” according to Barger, who said he was a caring person who liked to play music and hang out with neighbors in Villa Park.

Jimenez was not a gang member and had no gang affiliations, she said.

Anyone with information of the shooting was asked to contact Pasadena Police at 626-744-4241 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
