A suspect in a homicide in Ontario was arrested in South Los Angeles Monday after he fired shots at officers, police said.

Ontario Police Department officers attempted to detain the man in his car near South Main Street and West 66th Street, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement.

The man fired at officers with a rifle and the officers returned fire.

No one was injured in the shooting.

The man exited his car wearing body armor and fled the scene on foot, but responding LAPD officers arrested him without further incident.

Officers retrieved the rifle and a handgun from the scene.

LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division detectives were investigating the incident due to the officer-involved shooting.
