An Arcadia man was sentenced Tuesday to four years in state prison for beating the mother of his two children when she visited his home last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Lisa Daruty said 28-year-old Robert Michael Mendez pleaded no contest in September to one felony count of injuring a girlfriend or child’s parent.

Mendez assaulted his ex-girlfriend on Sept. 29, 2019, at his Arcadia home, the prosecutor said. When the victim attempted to escape, the defendant followed the woman and dragged her back to the home while beating her, the prosecutor added.

Case GA106596 was investigated by the Arcadia Police Department.
