Victor Gordo Takes Lead in Pasadena Mayoral Race

As of Wednesday morning, Councilman Victor Gordo continues to lead incumbent Mayor Terry Tornek in the race for Pasadena mayor.

Gordo began his direct service to the city of Pasadena in 1997, when then–Vice Mayor Bill Crowfoot appointed him as the field representative for District 5.

Tornek has been Mayor since 2015 when he beat Jaque Robinson for the seat after Bill Bogaard’s 12 year run as mayor.

Gordo’s council seat for District 5 will be appointed by council within 75 days once the election is certified if he should win the mayoral race.

Bolstered by early outcomes, Gordo released the following statement:

“I’m incredibly humbled and honored by these initial results. I first want to give an enormous thank you to the hundreds of volunteers and contributors who worked tirelessly on my campaign over the past two years to help create a better Pasadena for everyone.

“This election was never about one person — it was about the people of Pasadena. The voters wanted change — and to take the city in a new direction. I am excited to work together with Pasadena residents and with my colleagues on the City Council to move our city forward during this challenging time. Importantly though, every vote counts and we look forward to ensuring that every vote is counted.”
