With high temperatures expected this week, Long Beach health officials will open air-conditioned cooling centers today and Wednesday. The cooling centers, which can serve up to 250 people per day, will be open from noon to 6 p.m. today and Wednesday at : Admiral Kidd Park (2125 Santa Fe Ave.) El Dorado Park West (2800 Studebaker Road) Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave.) Long Beach Senior Center (1150 E. Fourth St.) McBride Park (1550 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.) All centers will be operating in compliance with health orders to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Health screenings, temperature checks, physical distancing and face coverings are required for visitors. Cleaning and disinfecting practices are also being conducted at each of the cooling centers. Temperatures are expected to reach the low 90s today in Long Beach, according to the National Weather Service. Elevated temperatures in the high 80s are expected to continue through Friday, with a heat advisory in effect for much of the Southern California region.
