The suspects responsible for the fatal stabbing and subsequent shooting during an altercation in a Rose Bowl parking lot in 2019, have been identified, arrested and charged.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019 at approximately 11:22 p.m., Pasadena police responded to a parking lot in the area of Arroyo Boulevard and Seco Street regarding a physical altercation and shots fired. Officers arrived on scene and located two victims. Both victims were immediately transported to a local area hospital and despite life-saving efforts by the medical staff, Kamryn Stone succumbed to his injury. The second victim recovered from a gunshot wound to his left arm.

An autopsy examination of Stone, occurred on Sept. 18, 2019. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office examination revealed Stone received one fatal stab wound to the heart during the physical altercation, which resulted in his death.

Detectives identified the shooting suspect as 20-year-old Don Wayne Davenport, a Los Angeles resident.

Detectives arrested Davenport on Feb. 11, 2020, and the handgun he used, was recovered. The case on Davenport was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020 and was charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of shooting from a motor vehicle. His bail was set at $2,040,000 and he remains in custody.

The identity of the suspect responsible for the stabbing, required additional investigation. Earlier this month, detectives identified the suspect responsible for the stabbing death of Stone as 20-year-old Kyonne Garner, also a Los Angeles resident. Garner is currently in custody in the state of Nevada for an unrelated charge.

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020 detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for review. Garner was charged with one count of murder and his bail was set at $2,115,000. Details regarding the motive, will not be released at this time.
