San Antonio-based startup Olifant Medical Inc. has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Booz Allen Hamilton Foundation for its trademarked stat enclosure, a product that provides an additional protective barrier between clinicians and potentially infectious droplets produced during high-risk procedures. The grant will support Olifant’s commercialization this product that aims to protect vulnerable front-line health care workers additional protection from Covid-19 exposure during high risk medical procedures, co-founder and CEO Christopher Carroll said in an emailed statement. Booz Allen Hamilton awarded 21 grants around the nation worth a total of about $1 million to nonprofits, university projects, entrepreneurs and startups through its Covid-19 Innovation Fund. In addition to grant funding, award recipients have access to ongoing support from Booz Allen Foundation partners. The fund was established to support innovative projects working to solve some of the pandemic’s most critical problems, such as the shortage of personal protective equipment and the demand for mobile health units in at-risk communities.
