A new 300-page book by author Richard Singer tells the story of Monrovia in 1887 – as the town became the fourth city to be incorporated in Los Angeles County. Singer, who previously wrote “Renaissance Years: A History of Modern Monrovia,” draws facts and stories from newspapers and other direct sources, filling in details.
Copies of the book may be purchased for $30 — all proceeds will benefit the Monrovia Historical Society — by calling or texting Sandy Burud at (626) 675-8323 or emailing monroviahistoricalsociety1896@gmail.com.
