Pasadena Public Library Expands Curbside Pickup Service

Following the successful launch of curbside pickup service atPasadena Central Library, Pasadena Public Library has expanded curbside pickupservice to seven of its branch libraries. Curbside pickup service is nowavailable Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Central Libraryand Allendale, Hastings, Lamanda Park, La Pintoresca, Linda Vista, San Rafaeland Santa Catalina Branch Libraries.

Library patrons are able to pick up previously-reserved materialsat their neighborhood branch. Patrons are contacted individually via email orphone when their reserved materials are ready for pickup, and then providedinstructions as to when and where to pick them up. Upon arrival at thedesignated library site, patrons are directed to either call or text librarystaff to alert them of their arrival. Using appropriate protective equipment,including face coverings and gloves, library staff then place the reservedmaterials on a table and step back, allowing the patron to step out and pick upthe materials. Materials can also be returned in the nearby library book drops.

“This pilot project has been very successful thanks to carefulplanning, guidance from the Pasadena Public Health Department, and cooperationfrom the community with contactless pickup,” said Director of Libraries andInformation Services Michelle Perera, noting that 437 patrons picked up 1,139items during the program’s initial launch at Central Library. “Library staffare thrilled to be able to provide this service to the community.”

The curbside pickup program is for library holds only. Patrons may reserve library materials for curbside pickup online using their Pasadena Public Library card number.

Numerous library materials are also available virtually, and staffare providing reference service via phone and email. Contact library staff byphone at (626) 744-4066, option 7, or email at ask@cityofpasadena.email.libanswers.com.

All Pasadena Public Library buildings remain closed to the public until further notice.
