Duarte Resident Shot in Pasadena Drive-by Shooting Succumbs to Injuries

Medical staff from a local hospital pronounced Ray Anthony Magee Jr. deceased on Tuesday at 12:09 p.m. Magee, a 24-year-old resident of Duarte, was one of two victims shot while seated inside a vehicle on Saturday, May 23, in the 1500 block of North Lake Avenue. The second victim, a 23-year-old male from Duarte, continues to recover from his injuries.

On Saturday, at approximately 4:11 p.m., Pasadena Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting. Officers and Pasadena Fire Paramedics arrived on scene and located Magee and the other male suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics rendered emergency medical assistance and both were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Officers andevidence technicians canvassed the area for potential evidence and witnesses. Preliminaryinvestigation revealed both victims were stopped in their vehicle in the areawhen a late model sedan drove behind them and fired multiple times into theirvehicle. The suspect vehicle was occupied by at least two unknown suspects.

Detectivesdo not believe the shooting was random and are investigating whether theshooting was gang related.
