Monrovia Crime Blotters: April 30 – May 6

April 30

At 6:37 a.m., an officer responded to an alarm company for a business in the 700 block of East Huntington. The police officer found the front door glass had been shattered, but no one was inside. Store management arrived and advised the store had been burglarized. This investigation is continuing.

At 12:52p.m., an officer responded to a single motorist collision at the intersectionof Myrtle and Olive. Motorist collided into a light pole; officer foundaccident was caused by a medical condition. The driver was transported to anearby hospital for treatment.

At 11:20p.m., an officer on patrol at the intersection of May and Foothill saw a malesubject stumbling in the roadway while drinking an alcoholic beverage. The malesubject was determined to be too intoxicated as the subject believed he was inLos Angeles. He was arrested for public intoxication and held for a soberingperiod.

May 1

At 4:42p.m., an officer responded to a traffic collision at the intersection ofCalifornia and Huntington. Officer found two motorists had collided and twopassengers had minor injuries. Paramedics provided medical first aid to theinjured passengers. The driver found to be at fault was issued a citation.

 At 7:12 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of West Duarte regarding a report of a stolen bicycle from a parking garage. This investigation is continuing.

May 2

At 5:01a.m., an officer responded to a vehicle traveling the wrong way on a one-waystreet near the intersection of Shamrock and Evergreen. A traffic stop wasinitiated and found the driver to be intoxicated. An investigation wasconducted and the driver was arrested for DUI and held for a sobering period.

At 7:12 a.m., an officer responded apartment complex in the 1300 block of South Alta Vista. A resident discovered his apartment had been burglarized. A report was held after money and several items were missing. The suspects entered through an unlocked sliding glass door. This investigation is continuing.

 At 3:50 p.m., an officer was patrolling the200 block of Norumbega when he saw a suspicious vehicle in a driveway. Officerconducted a computer check and revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen. Afemale subject approached the stolen vehicle and drove away. She was stoppedand, after investigation, was arrested for grand theft auto. The vehicle wasreturned to the owner.

At 4:08p.m., an officer responded to a traffic collision in a church parking lot inthe 1300 block of S. Magnolia. The driver advised he attempted a U-turn in theparking lot, but was traveling too fast and the motorcycle went down in theparking lot. Both parties had visible injuries but declined to be transportedto a hospital for treatment.

At 1:12p.m., a theft was reported in the 200 block of E. Duarte. Female subjectinadvertently left her cell phone at a location. When she returned and foundthe phone was gone, she was later advised there were fraudulent charges to anaccount she has linked on her phone. This investigation is continuing.

At 1:19 p.m., an officer responded to a stolen electric bicycle from a parking structure in the 700 block of South Myrtle. Officers have conducted an investigation. This investigation is continuing.

At 6 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Fig regarding a possible robbery that had occurred earlier in the day. The victim reported an altercation between two friends. During the altercation, two friends took her purse and cell phone. This investigation is continuing.

May 5

At 1:02a.m., El Monte Police Department reported a subject wanted by Monrovia PoliceDepartment for a burglary of a church. Monrovia Officers responded and placedthe subject under arrest. He was transported to the Monrovia Police DepartmentJail.

At 5:50p.m., officers responded to a collision near the intersection of Mountain andDuarte. The victim was driving her vehicle near the intersection when she washit by a tan Toyota Corolla. The suspect vehicle fled the area. Thisinvestigation is continuing.

May 6

At 6:43 a.m., a theft was reported in the 300 block of West Cypress. The victim reported that someone took his mailbox sometime during the night. This investigation is continuing.

At 6:33 p.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of South Primrose regarding a battery incident that had just occurred between a husband and wife. The wife had a visible mark on her face and reported the husband slapped her across the face while they were arguing. The husband was arrested for domestic violence and taken into custody.

At 8:06a.m., a theft was reported in the 800 block of Norumbega. The victim reportedthat tools were taken from his property. This investigation is continuing.

At 8:42p.m., dispatch received a 9-1-1 hang-up call from the area of Magnolia andHuntington, stating a female subject was having a baby in a vehicle. Officersresponded, located the vehicle and found a female subject in labor. Officershad the subject move to the back seat of the vehicle and moments later, thebaby was delivered before paramedics could arrive. The officers assisted thefemale in delivering her baby girl.
