TheBoys and Girls Club of Pasadena has organized a fundraising campaign aimed atsupporting their programs during the COVID-19 health crisis. For over 80 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena has provided safe places for kids andteens.

“Weare doing whatever it takes right now to stand with our club families and thePasadena community. We have created a ‘Virtual BGCP’ on our website that’saccessible to all, with engaging, age-appropriate after-school programming andinteractive homework help daily. We’re also helping families in other ways, like delivering meals and groceries to quarantined families, and calling all ofour families to make sure they’re OK and connect them with communityresources,” said Lisa Cavelier, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Pasadena.

Alldonations raised during this campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar fromone of the club’s board members up to $10,000. Funds will be used to expand the“Virtual BGCP” after-school program offerings and for continued support andoutreach to club families. Key partners in the club’s campaign include the Kirby-JonesFoundation, the Rotary Club of Pasadena, Pete Kutzer and Patrick Chraghchian, and numerous club board members.

TheCOVID-19 Relief Fund will also enable club doors to re-open so that they cancontinue to provide out-of-school time programs to current members and thelocal community. With unemployment on the rise and the long-term economicimpact of COVID-19 unknown, young people will need to be equipped more thanever with the essential skills to achieve success in school, enter college, andsuccessfully join the workforce. Also, when the club re-opens, there is aconcern that mental health resources will be needed to help youth as theytransition out of this difficult time.
