COVID-19 Cases Rise to 7 in Pasadena

The City of Pasadena Public Health Department (PPHD) confirmed three additional cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Pasadena residents on Monday. Then on Wednesday the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced a seventh case in the city.

On Monday PPHD said the three additional cases were likelydue to community transmission. At that time, only one case had beenhospitalized. Due to patient confidentiality, no other information on confirmedcases will be provided.

PPHD is following up directly with those who have had closecontact with this individual and may be at risk for COVID-19 infection. Closecontacts are monitored for signs and symptoms of illness and arequarantined. 

On March 19, the Safer atHome Order was issued to slow the spread of COVID-19 andprotect the Pasadena community. Individuals can takeeveryday actions to protect the community and preserve local healthcareresources including: 

  • Do not have non-essential gatherings withanyone outside of your immediate family (living with you); essential gatheringsinclude medical visits and purchasing food.
  • If you are sick, isolate yourself from othersin your home and call your doctor to determine what care you need. 
  • If available, consider using telemedicine tospeak with a healthcare provider, rather than visiting the emergency room orurgent care.
  • Stay at least 6 feet away from other peoplewhen on essential outings such as grocery shopping or riding public transit toan essential job. 
  • Continue strict personal hand hygiene andcleaning of surfaces.
  • If you have recently returned from an areawith ongoing COVID-19 infections, follow public health guidance and monitoryour health. Call your healthcare providers and inform them about your travelhistory if you need care.
