Santa Tours Through Monrovia All Next Week
By Susan Motander
Starting on Monday, Dec. 16, Santa and his first responder-elves from Monrovia Police and Fire & Rescue departments will be riding through town. There will also be volunteers from city staff and the community riding along with the jolly old man in red.
If you would like to ride along with Santa, his sleigh begins loading on a first come, first serve basis each weekday at 5 p.m. The tours begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The tour rolls rain or shine so dress appropriately. The ride should last until about 9:30 p.m.
On Monday, Santa and his cavalcade will visit all the streets east of Myrtle Avenue and north of Foothill Boulevard. The next night the tour will move to the area west of Myrtle Avenue to Fifth Avenue, south of Foothill Boulevard down to Huntington Drive.
The tour will shift back to the east side on Wednesday, between Myrtle Avenue and the eastern side between Myrtle Avenue and the eastern city limits from Foothill Boulevard south to Duarte Road. The whole group will move back to the west side the next night to the streets north of Foothill Boulevard and west of Myrtle Avenue up to the Wilderness preserve.
The tour will conclude on Friday night, Dec. 20 with the area south of Huntington Drive down to the city’s southern boundaries, including Valley Circle.
Listen for the sirens, horns and carols accompanying Santa and his minions, and come out and wave to them. You may be greeted with a surprise.
