Police Search for Attempted Murder Suspect in Pasadena

At approximately 9:30 a.m on Friday, a suspect seriously wounded a resident on Euclid Ave. opposite the Pasadena Convention Center.

Police have a large perimeter cordoned off and Pasadena PD helicopter is searching the area from above.  Meanwhile, heavy police presence and yellow crime tape remain at the scene.

Lisa Derderian, spokesperson for the City of Pasadena, said police are searching for a large build African-American male who is the primary suspect wearing a green trench coat. Derderian advises the public to be vigilant and call 911 if you see the suspect.

The victim was taken to Huntington Hospital in critical condition.

Officers found one male victim, 48-years old, suffering from stab wounds. Pasadena Fire Department paramedics also responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.

Officers set up a perimeter containment to search for the suspect who reportedly fled on foot. Officers searched the area for the suspect with the assistance of police helicopters and police K9s. After an extensive search, the suspect remains outstanding. Glendale Police Department also provided assistance during the search for the suspect.

Detectives responded to the scene for further investigation. Preliminary investigation suggests the incident was not random in nature. A motive for the stabbing remains under investigation. The victim is a resident in the 100 block of South Euclid Ave.

The suspect was described as a Black male in his 50’s, 5-foot 10  to 6 feet, balding on the top of his head, goatee or mustache, last seen wearing a green trench coat.

UPDATE: March 1 @ 2:54 p.m.

The shelter in place has been lifted.  An extensive search was conducted and the suspect was not found in the area.  We thank the public for their patience. This is an ongoing investigation contact Pasadena Police should you have any information (626) 744-4241.
