Boston Court Pasadena Presents a New Season of Music This Fall
Boston Court Pasadena presents another daring season of music events to Southern California – “14 Uncommon Performances” – this fall starting Sept. 7 with a program of all new work in “Poets, Prophets and Philosophers” with The Lyris Quartet and soprano Hila Plitmann.
Artistic Director Mark Saltzman has programmed an eclectic, globe-trotting and genre-crossing series of concerts that include a weekend mini-festival of three performances and a master class from Oct. 5-7, surveying the music of Claude Debussy and commemorating the 100th anniversary of his death. This weekend mini-festival will also include pianist Jérémie Favreau and violinist Ken Aiso, which explores the fictional “Vinteuil” violin sonata in Marcel Proust’s seminal novel, “Remembrance of Things Past,” with the works that actually inspired it – Saint-Saëns and Franck’s Violin Sonatas, Fauré’s Ballade for piano and The Harp Twins which are already sold out.
Boston Court Pasadena features the latest compositions by Julia Adolphe in order to keep its mission to present the newest and most interesting music of Los Angeles area composers. Adolphe’s commissions have already been performed by the New York Philharmonic and the LA Chamber Orchestra which included selections from her new opera, “A Barrel of Laughs, A Vale of Tears.”
“Mark Saltzman, our extraordinary artistic director for music, has created a 2018 season featuring musical, poetic, and at times indescribable offerings,” said Executive Director Kyle Clausen. “As always, we look forward to welcoming long-time subscribers, first time ticket buyers, and everyone in between to a line-up of concerts you won’t find anywhere else in Southern California.”
Tickets for the Fall Music Series range from $30 – $35 with discounts available for seniors, students and groups. Tickets are available by calling (626) 683-6801 or online at BostonCourtPasadena.org.
