It’s been 48 years since the first Earth Day celebrations took place in 1970. This year’s community-run Earth Day Pasadena event is brought to you by local environmental groups, organizations and community members who are working to revive the tradition of Earth Day in Pasadena, a tradition that is needed now more than ever to increase awareness about thinking globally and acting locally to live more sustainably.

Saturday’s Earth Day event will feature art, live music, activities, workshops and demonstrations on water-wise gardening and practices, strategies for reducing waste including food-waste, how to support renewable energy and green transportation options. The participating organizations invite you to learn more and share your vision for a more environmentally friendly city and planet, spread awareness about local efforts to #HEALthePLANET and live in a #HEALTHePLANET in 2018.

– Learn about local and grassroots environmental efforts.

– Engage in meaningful dialogues, solution storming & advocacy.

– Move to zumba, yoga, drum circle beats and live music.

– Take action on climate change and participate in workshops, demonstrations and interactive activities to learn about sustainable practices including: water-wise gardening, reducing waste, clean energy, green transportation, art, health and more.

– Speak up and share your vision for a more environmentally friendly Pasadena.

Partners and supporters who have joined Day One to help make this event possible include: The Armory Center for the Arts, Kaiser Permanente, LightBringer Project, Throop Learning Garden, Transition Pasadena, Repair Cafe, Pasadena 100, Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition, Bike San Gabriel Valley, Remainders, Imperfect Produce, Villa Park Garden Club, UCCE Los Angeles County Master Gardener Program, Pasadena Altadena Coalition of Transformative Leaders, 301 Organics, Side Streets Project, Pasadena Ming & Body Meditation, Pasadena Department of Public Works, Pasadena Department of Water & Power, and Pasadena Libraries.  Visit their booth this Saturday to learn more about their local environmental efforts and how you can get involved.
