The specter of deporting 800,000 undocumented young people brought to the U.S. as children drew a full house to the Call to Action by the League of Women Voters Pasadena Sept. 9. More than 50 people wrote 177 postcards to elected representatives.
“We have to do something to help these wonderful young people who have demonstrated their belief in the American Dream,” was one message opposing the reversal of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

The League remains committed to fighting suppression tactics that threaten the right to vote.
LWV supports an affordable housing bill in California — SB2, Building Homes and Jobs Act. Also, SB3, Minimum Wage; In-home Supportive Services; Pid Sick Days.
As for racism, Chris Carson, president of the national LWV, says: “There is no place for hatred and violence in our democracy and all leaders must condemn acts of domestic terrorism.”
