It’s time again for the Saturday that savvy bargain-hunters have been waiting for all year: the annual Creative Arts Group Flea Market in Sierra Madre.

Known throughout the San Gabriel Valley as the “Day of Surprises,” the bazaar is a cornucopia of stunning discoveries sure to fill a niche somewhere in your toy chest, hobby corner, family room – or, perhaps, on your living room wall.

Starting at 9 a.m. Sept. 2, you can pore over a huge variety of toys, crafts, books, music, videos, furniture, sporting goods and collectables of every imaginable kind.

Nearly everyone who drops by even for a quick look will leave with some unexpected treasure they didn’t realize they couldn’t live without.

For many longtime patrons, the Flea Market is an opportunity to search for delightful framed artwork. And for many others, it’s the quest for that perfect frame.

Special bargains are also usually available as the clock ticks toward the 3 p.m. closing time.

Creative Arts Group, at 108 N. Baldwin Ave., has served the community for more than half a century with a wide array of classes in the fine arts for hobbyists and professionals alike.

People of all ages gather at CAG’s studios to take classes in drawing and painting, and to learn to create ceramics, textile art and jewelry.

In addition, Creative Arts Group has for many years provided free art classes to enrich the education of students at Sierra Madre Elementary School.

The annual Flea Market is an important fund-raiser for the organization, and its officers and members sincerely appreciate the support they receive at the event from the community.
