
On Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged suspect Jose Diaz Servellon (29-year-old male and Pasadena resident) with one count of kidnapping, one count of assault by means of force to produce great bodily injury, and one count of criminal threats; suspect’s bail is set at $500,000.00.
On Saturday, July 29, 2017, suspect- Servellon attempted to kidnap an adult female as she was walking home in the 100 block of West Maple Street. She noticed the suspect, later identified as Servellon, standing on the sidewalk beside the opened passenger door of his truck. Once the victim walked past Servellon, he pulled her by the hair causing her to fall to the ground. He then dragged the victim a short distance toward his truck despite the victim’s physical efforts to resist. A witness, who was driving saw the struggle and stopped. When the suspect noticed the witness stopping, he released the victim and drove away.
The Pasadena Police Department issued a News Release with a composite picture of the suspect and a picture of the suspect’s truck. As a result, a citizen phoned the assigned detective and provided investigative leads. A comprehensive investigation by Pasadena detectives led to the identity and arrest of suspect Servellon on August 5, 2017.
The Pasadena Police Department greatly appreciates the actions of two concerned citizens who made a difference in disrupting this violent crime and assisting the department with the suspect’s identification and apprehension.
