Family Friendly Tennis (Sept. 8 @ 6:30 p.m., North Side Park, 601 W. 11th St.). Join in on weekly tennis sessions for all ages. Programs are tailored to a curriculum that accommodates all different ages and skill levels. Sessions start with a group warm-up. After warm-ups, the different age groups split off and do activities separately. Near the end of sessions, everyone comes together for a festival-style play, while making sure everyone is safe and having fun. No previous tennis experience is necessary and all equipment is provided. You can buy one session for $25, five sessions for $99 (only $19.80 per session), or all 15 sessions for $249 (only $16.60 per session).

Chris Cain Band (Sept. 9 @ 7 p.m., Arcadia Blues Club, 16 E. Huntington Drive). The Chris Cain Band with Bobby Bluehouse and special guests will be featured in a great night of Blues. Food will be available from 7 p.m. until midnight. Free parking is available on the street and behind Denny’s. Need help with online searches, creating an email account, downloading e-books, audiobooks, music, magazines, and movies? Bring your library card and computer or other devices to this basic computer instruction. This service is free for anyone 18 and over.

A Salute to Warner Bros. (Sept. 10 @ 7:30 p.m., LA County Arboretum, 301 N. Baldwin Ave.). With summer coming to a close, the Pasadena POPS will be hosting their annual movie night, paying tribute to the music inspired by the movie magic of Warner Bros. Hear your favorites from silver screen blockbusters “The Music Man,” “42nd Street,” and “Gypsy,” as well as much-loved standards “Hooray for Hollywood,” John Williams’ theme from the original “Superman,” and many more. In typical Feinstein fashion, this spectacular season finale will be filled with unexpected surprises for an evening you won’t forget.

Patriot Day Concert (Sept. 11 @ 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., First Presbyterian Church of Monrovia, 101 E. Foothill Blvd.). On the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the San Gabriel Valley Musical Artists presents a concert of American-themed music performed by a full orchestra. The concert will include premiere pieces and old favorites.

Lip Reading Made Fun with Francine Katz (Sept. 12 @ 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., Crowell Library, 1890 Huntington Drive). Challenge your memory, improve your language skills, and ease the burden of hearing loss by learning to lip read with these fun and stimulating classes. Students will enhance their verbal skills by showing how language looks and sounds. Instructor Francine Katz challenges the class to memorize sentences, play word games, and focus on lip-reading skills. Get your brain in shape with weekly two-hour workout in the Barth Community Room at Crowell Library in a relaxed atmosphere with rewarding results. Classes begin Sept. 12 and 13: Mondays at 12:30 p.m. or Tuesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. You may also sample a class and then return ready to do some work as a regular attendee.

Allan Wasserman Jazz Ensemble (Sept. 12 @ 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Bacchus’ Kitchen, 1384 E. Washington Blvd.). Claud & Co. welcomes Allan Wasserman Jazz Ensemble to Bacchus Kitchen. Chef Claud Beltran creates a theme-inspired culinary experience to accompany the evening’s musical selection. Event starts at 6 p.m. sharp, with ticket prices at $75 per person, which includes a three-course dinner and two sets of music.

Parent & Me Ceramics (Sept. 13 @ 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., Community Center of La Canada Flintridge, 4469 Chevy Chase Drive). Inspire your child’s imagination with a five-week session of hands-on ceramic classes! Art teaches children that there are multiple approaches to solving problems through a tactile and creative experience. From garden sculptures and luminaries, to tiles and more, your Parent & Me team will create ceramic art objects together! Students will learn coil, pinch, and slab techniques, while developing their personal expression and confidence. The first five-week session runs from Sept. 13 to Oct. 11, with the second from Oct. 18 to Nov. 15. Intended for children ages 3 to 5, with session fees costing $90 for each five-week session.

Sept. 14
Santa Anita Depot Tour (Sept. 14 @ 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., LA County Arboretum, 301 N. Baldwin Ave.). Tour the inside of one of the Arboretum’s most historical treasure with a knowledgeable docent and learn about what this depot was like when it was operational.
