On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Perry’s Joint will be donating 100 percent of its proceeds from the day to help three young people on their college quest.

The recipients are all from Muir High School: Aajalilynn Allen, Jennifer Salvador, and Diego Obregon.

As a Mustang, Allen participated in track and field, the dance team, and the Muir Pep Squad, as captain of the flag team. Allen was a member of the Black Student Union and Young Life.

She is a first generation graduate that will attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the fall. Allen plans to take full advantage of all the opportunities she has received. Her goal is to not only make her family proud, but her community too.

Obregon was the editor-in-chief of Muir’s newspaper, The Blazer. He participated in competitive swimming and was selected to be a student ambassador for the Tournament of Roses.

Obregon will attend UCLA in the fall and major in English. While at UCLA, he plans on becoming involved in student media and join the Bruins Swim Club. In his spare time, Obregon loves kayaking, watching TV shows, and roller skating.

Salvador participated in journalism while attending Muir. Her extra-curricular activities consisted of ASB, Solar Cup, dance, Young Life, and film editing. Salvador gives back to her community by volunteering to tutor students at Washington Middle School and students who didn’t pass the CAHSEE.

In the fall, Jennifer will attend Cal State, Los Angeles, majoring in business management.

Perry’s Joint located at 2051 Lincoln Ave. in Pasadena.
