Ballots have been mailed out to the property owners on Encinitas Avenue who did not sign the petition to make the area into an historic district. This step is required to be in compliance with the requirement that all property owners be given the opportunity to vote on the formation of such a district.
It is important to note that the city already has the number of signatures required to create the district, but the regulations demand that all property owners in the area have a right to vote on the issue. The ballots are due back on Aug. 1. At that point, the city will be able to move forward to complete the review of the Encinitas Historic District application.
