Pasadena Police Chief in ‘Solidarity’ With Law Enforcement Across US

Pasadena Police Chief Phillip Sanchez recently released the following statement:

“The Pasadena Police Department (PPD) join in solidarity with law enforcement agencies and first responders across America in condemning the cowardly murders perpetrated on Baton Rouge Peace Officers early Sunday morning.

“The investigation is still in the preliminary stages and the facts surrounding the murders will not be known for some time. Nevertheless, violent attacks directed at our first responders, who serve the public daily, erodes the social fabric of our communities, impacts our freedoms, and cannot be tolerated. We must come together to find common ground toward abating the deliberate assaults on peace officers.

“The Pasadena Police Department is in frequent communication with federal, state, and regional law enforcement organizations following the shooting in Baton Rouge. Our communications are part of the police department’s threat assessment process and allow us to implement appropriate countermeasures as necessary. PPD will continue to assess the situation in Baton Rouge.

“Although there are no known credible threats in our area of operations (which includes Pasadena) I have ordered a modified patrol deployment for the immediate near future. You should not see a decrease in police services and 911 calls will not be impacted. However, there may be an extended response time for low propriety calls. If you require a police report, you are welcome to visit our webpage: www.ci.pasadena.ca.us/Police/Report_A_Crime_Online.

“The online reporting system is not intended for in-progress crimes, emergencies, or suspicious activity; however, it is an option for some incidents. As always, I welcome your engagement by reporting suspicious activity, ‘See Something; Say Something,’ to the Pasadena Police Department (911 or non-emergency (626) 744-4241).

“Please keep the Baton Rouge, Dallas officers, and all victims of violence in your prayers.”
