The Monrovia Planning Commission will be reviewing the neighborhood compatibility aspects of the proposed changes to the city code regarding construction. As has been previously reported in this publication, Planning Commissioner Coulter Winn has prepared a hypothetical project for review by the city staff using the proposed new guidelines. The location of the hypothetical project is 122 N, Alta Vista, the site of the development many consider the genesis of the movement to amend the city codes.

As a part of the process of this “proposal” Winn has constructed a three-dimensional model of each submission for staff. Commissioner Winn and the city staff will be presenting the analysis of their findings to the commission at the meeting on May 11. A copy of the report on this agenda item (Administrative Report – 2) is available on line at the city’s website: www.cityofmonrovia.org under “Government, Meetings Agendas and Minutes.” An analysis is also available in this week’s city manager’s report that is also available on the city website.

The discussion by the commission is important as their input will be included in the staff report that is ultimately submitted to the city council when it reviews the proposed changes to the code. A date for the council’s consideration has not yet been set.
