Oh, America. If there is anything we do with reckless abandon well, it is our wherewithal to take advantage of any cultural holiday that promotes alcohol consumption. Just far enough from winter festivities, St. Patrick’s Day comes right when we are itching to celebrate anything involving a drink – even if said spirit is green beer. So here we are, scanning the internet for the least green outfit even though we don’t know why this holiday even exists.
We’ve rounded up an AM to PM list of activities happening all around the city that should allow most of our readers to partake in the fun. Pinch you later.
Where whiskey meets coffee:
Rise and shine with a different kind of pick me up. Instead of lining up at your usual caffeine haunt, consider heading west to Menotti’s in Venice for an Irish Coffee crafted with whiskey, coffee liqueur, whipped cream, syrup and nutmeg. We guess you could consider this a liver prep of sorts. See more of their Insta-worthy latte art here.
Where the health obsessed can still (semi) enjoy themselves:
Not all of us are into drinking and late-night activities. As legend has it, there are some that awake with the sun and choose to dance around for three hours before most people’s alarms even go off. If this, combined with cold brews and green juices galore, sound like an ideal activity to celebrate four leaf clovers, Daybreaker LA will be hosting the ultimate dance party at LA Mother.
Where eating a whiskey-themed breakfast is totally acceptable:
Casey’s Irish Pub, located downtown, is a staple of LA’s St. Patrick’s shenanigans. Usually attracting upwards of 20,000 Angelenos to partake, the bar opens at 6 AM and keeps going until the next morning. Before the crowds of business bros clock out at 5 PM, get yourself in there by arriving for breakfast and ordering their Jameson French Toast. We’re not sure how green beer and that will pair, but report back!
Where beer goggles will be the hottest accessory:
What happens when you combine $4 pints of Guinness, $4 shots of Jameson and fleets of Hollywood beer lovers? Assumably the debauchery this holiday calls for. Put on shoes that allow for beer stains sans your tears and prepare for the AM to PM drinking marathon at Hollywood’s St. Patty’s Day Beer Fest.
Where the dive bar connoisseur will meet their match:
Thematic to say the least, a place to end the evening would be in Mid-City at Tom Bergin’s. The classic Irish pub lives for this holiday, has a decked out clover-themed interior and takes the party outside on it’s special day.
Calling in sick Friday is going to be obvious, but here’s to hoping your boss will do the same.
