Friday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m., the Altadena Library District presents a play, Crones. Directed by Mimi Seton, Crones centers on two women, best friends from adolescence, who reunite 40 years later to lend a hand to each other during a time of crisis for both. One is a pragmatist and the other a mystic, but being psychologically savvy and humorous New Yorkers, their dialogue is as funny as it is moving. The audience is given an opportunity to “overhear” what two older women talk about behind closed doors when their guards are down and are free to be completely intimate.
The staged reading was first read at The Culture Project in NYC in August 2015, starring Mimi Lieber as Zoe Greenberg and June Gable as Poppy Mac Claren. This is the first time it will be heard in Los Angeles. Anna Mathias (Zoe Greenberg) and Lily Knight (Poppy Mac Claren) will star.

About the Cast and Director:
Anna Mathias has appeared at the Royal Court in London, Berkeley Rep, ACT in San Francisco, San Diego Rep, Pasadena Playhouse, Mark Taper Forum and Geffen Playhouse . She is a company member of Antaeus, L.A.’s classical theatre ensemble, The Spolin Players, Fred Willard’s Mohos and The Second City Alumni Jam. Mathias’ performances include Uncle Vanya and Cyrano de Bergerac for LA Theatre Works radio plays. Her voice has also graced such shows as Better call Saul, Air Force One (BBC), Last Vegas, Turn, Gossip Girl, NCIS, Water for Elephants, The Hangover, Funny People, Borat, 24, Talladega Nights, Grey Gardens, Dennis the Menace (as Alice Mitchell). She has a degree in Dramatic Arts from UC Berkeley and lives in Los Angeles with her husband and son.
Lily Knight has appeared in feature films (among them, the upcoming Sky, The Artist, Touch, Changeling, The Secretary, Dahmer, AI), on over 50 television shows (Once Upon a Time, American Crime, Grey’s Anatomy, Castle, American Horror Story, True Blood, Rizzoli & Isles and Medium) and on Broadway (Agnes of God, As Is, The Musical Comedy of Murders of 1940) and off Broadway (The Holy Terror, The Early Girl, The Fiery Furnace, among others) and regionally at Arena Stage (ATL), Boston Shakespeare Company, Baltimore’s Center Stage, Berkshire and Williamstown Theatre Festivals, among others. Most recently, she performed onstage in A Small Fire at The Echo Theatre, A Delicate Balance at the Odyssey, as well as The Crucible, Peace In Our Time, and The Autumn Garden at Antaeus, where she is a company member. Lily tours with Ensemble Galilei in First Person: Seeing America, Universe of Dreams, and Anna’s Garden. Currently she is co-creating EG’s next show, Galileo and the Lost Marbles.
Mimi Seton is a multi-award winning writer-composer-director who has taught Theatre Arts at the University of Paris and Trinity College Dublin. Called a “new theatre visionary” by the LA Weekly, multi-award-winning theatre artist, Seton, is known for her lyrical sensibility and dark sense of humor. She has addressed a number of social issues in her work including racism, cultural displacement and childhood obesity. Seton’s work as a theatre devisor (writer-composer-director) has gleaned her over a dozen press awards and several grants.
