Program offers free admission to military personnel and their families this summer in collaboration with the NEA, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense.

Pasadena Museum of History is pleased to extend the 2015 Blue Star Museums program offer of free admission to active duty military personnel and their families through the run of its current Civil War exhibitions, which close at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20. (The Blue Star Museums program officially runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day.)

Pasadena Museum of History’s exhibitions When Johnny Came Marching West: How the Civil War Shaped Pasadena and Thaddeus Lowe: Chief Aeronaut of the Union Army commemorate the sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) of a conflict that has continued to affect the America in which we live. These exhibitions reveal intimate stories of veterans and spotlight the amazing exploits, bravery, courage, and heartbreak of both soldiers and civilians, personalizing a war that is often mentioned only through its bloody battles and great loss of life.

“We feel that the theme of these exhibitions is especially meaningful to military personnel and their families and look forward to continue welcoming them as our guests during the final weeks that the Civil War displays will be in our galleries,” notes PMH Executive Director Jeannette O’Malley.

The Exhibition Galleries at Pasadena Museum of History are open from 12 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. The Museum is located at 470 W. Walnut St., Pasadena, CA 91103; free parking is available in the Museum lot and on Walnut St. For additional exhibition information and visitor information, please visit www.pasadenahistory.org or call (626) 577-1660.

Tickets: To redeem your Blue Star admission, please stop at the desk in the Museum Store to show proper identification. The free admission program is available to any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), a DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card, which includes active duty U.S. military – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps – and up to five family members
