FIDM’s “Art of Motion Picture Costume Design”

Over 100 outstanding—and we do mean outstanding—costume designs from 23 different 2014 films can be seen, free to the public, in the annual “Art of Motion Picture Costume Design” exhibition at the FIDM Museum, from Tuesday, Feb. 10 through Saturday, Apr. 25.

Featuring all five Academy Award nominees for Costume Design, the exhibition will celebrate its 23rd anniversary in 2015. Located on the campus of FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, visitors’ hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The exhibition closes Saturday, Apr. 25.

This major exhibition is the only one of its kind in the world that pays homage each year to the creativity of the costume designer for film with a museum show of outstanding costumes and Oscar® nominated designs.

The Academy Award® Nominees for Costume Design Featured in the Exhibition include:

-The Grand Budapest Hotel by Costume Designer Milena Canonero
-Inherent Vice by Costume Designer Mark Bridges
-Into the Woods by Costume Designer Colleen Atwood
-Maleficent by Costume Designer Anna B. Sheppard and Jane Clive
-Mr. Turner by Costume Designer Jacqueline Durran

Exhibition Information: Including Group Tour Times

Open to Public: Feb. 10 through Apr. 25.
Gallery Hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Closed Sunday/Monday.
Admission: Free.
Location: FIDM Museum & Galleries On The Park, 1st Level, FIDM/ Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, 919 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90015 (Corner of Grand Avenue & 9th Street).
Parking: Under college building (entrance on 9th Street) or in surrounding lots.

Curator-Led Tours: Monday  – Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., on the hour; by appointment only. $20 per person for groups of 10 – 25 (a minimum of $200 for groups of less than 10). Special arrangements needed for groups larger than 25. Contact:  Kevin Jones, (213) 623-5821 x3367 or kjones@fidmmuseum.org
