PHS Bulldogs Hold off Arcadia Apaches 1-0

Both soccer teams stepped onto the field with undefeated records this past Friday, Jan. 16; however, after 90 minutes, Pasadena High emerged as the only undefeated team left in league play.

The highlight of the match falls to Pasadena High’s backup goalie, Shannon Talledo. Talledo was placed into the starting lineup for his second consecutive game as a result of their starting goalie Joshua Ramirez’s unfortunate bout with injuries.

Talledo played a fantastic game. He recorded numerous blocks and saves, sustaining an aggressive demeanor which led to an injury of his own after his upper leg was stepped on. He was forcibly sidelined, which had the Bulldogs turning to their midfielder, Oscar Almanza, in the interim until Talledo was able to return to play.

The lone goal for the Bulldogs came from freshman Jose Flores at 10:40 in the second half off a deflected kick. The solo goal was enough for the victory, as Pasadena High’s defense shutout the Arcadia Apaches. The Bulldogs are now first in league at 4-0-1 as the Apaches fall to 4-1.
