Senior point guard Tyler Dorsey notched another 40 point game along with a double-double to spearhead the Maranatha Minutemen to a 67-61 win over Valley Christian at Thursday, Jan. 22 at home.
“I’m playing consistently every game,” said the point guard. “I’m just staying in that mindset – in attack mode – the whole game.”
Dorsey shot 8-for-13 in the paint and 6-for-8 from downtown to record another 40 point game. He also tallied up 12 boards and five assists, along with his perfect record at the free-throw line. Senior Tey Williams was the only other Minuteman to score in double-digits that night, recording 15 points along with his five assists and three rebounds.
“My shot has been fluent and this was a good victory to solidify that first place in the league,” said Dorsey. “We needed this game.”
With the win Thursday night, the Minutemen stay undefeated in the Olympic League, going 3-0 and securing the first place spot in the league.
“I thought we managed the game where we could’ve knocked them out but they kept coming back in,” said Maranatha head coach Tim Tucker. “We didn’t play our best game tonight, but we’re fighting, we’re scratching, and we’re starting to believe we’ve got a chance to win this.”
