Richard Chinen, President of the 2015 Pasadena Tournament of Roses and Michael Riffey, 2004 Tournament President, presented Temple City High School’s Bert Ferntheil with a replica of a Rose Bowl Brick as the Temple City High School Band members looked on. Mr. Ferntheil was surprised and honored that the two Presidents would recognize him in such a memorable way.
The brick is inscribed with the Tournament of Roses logo and reads “The Pride of Temple City 2004 and 2015.” The brick will be on display in the Music Building at Temple City High School. The actual brick will be placed in front of the Rose Bowl as part of the Legacy Campaign. For more information about the stadium brick program, visit www.rosebowlbricks.com.
Superintendent Kathy Perini commented, “This is quite an honor for Bert as he was recognized for his dedication to music over the last 25 years. This has been an amazing year for him. Temple City High School’s Band and Pageantry Corps marched in the 2004 Rose Parade and will be marching down Colorado Boulevard again on New Year’s Day!”
Mr. Ferntheil is a musical instructor and band and orchestra director at Temple City High School.
Temple City High School serves students in grades nine through twelve in the Temple City Unified School District.
