Stop planning. Your November 2014 calendar is already full. With its first-ever 30 Days in LA event, Red Bull Sounds Select is attempting to prove that there is live music all throughout the city, and not just on the Sunset Strip. The premise is simple: a new concert at a new venue, every day for a month. Each night features two bands—and tickets are selling out quickly.
Many of the venues used are classics, but beauty of this city is our wide gamut of venues both traditional and makeshift. The Electric Dusk Drive-in is hosting on the 17th, and Midnight Rollerway gets its due two nights later.
However, a venue is nothing without a memorable act. Stephen Canfield, Red Bull’s spokesperson, emphasized the importance of matching the band to the venue to create a unique experience 30 nights in a row, stating, “We wanted to tie in a varied set of artists and genres that have strong influences in LA and put together a lineup that’s somehow really cohesive in its diversity – just like all the music that comes out of the city.”
Diversity is a main feature. Courtney Barnett will be at The El Rey on the fourth with her long, witty, and often trailing lyrics. And just a few weeks later, A$AP Mob will close the month by rocking the Palladium. Chet Faker (sold out), Future Islands (also sold out) and Juicy J (not yet sold out!) are scattered throughout the rest of November. Tickets available here.
