Chinese opera, contemporary and classic dance collide together in a performance led by Taiwan Youth Ambassadors at USC on Sep. 6
What does Chinese opera, as well as contemporary and classic dance have in common? They are artistic elements that will be skillfully fused into a memorable performance by the Taiwan Youth Ambassadors.
The 2014 Taiwan Youth Ambassadors delegation is scheduled to visit Los Angeles from September 4 to 7, 2014. This young delegation will be presenting a special cultural performance at 2:30-4:00PM on September 6 at Tutor Campus Center Ballroom of the University of Southern California (USC).
After a demanding selection process and undergoing intensive training for several months, the 16 Youth Ambassadors, who primarily major in art, music, and dance at Taiwan’s universities and graduate schools, will be heading up a cultural performance tour throughout several cities in September. In addition to Los Angeles, the Youth Ambassadors will also perform in San Francisco, St. Christopher, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent.
In their 90-minute performance, the young performers utilize their creativity and inspiration to combine Chinese opera, modern drama, contemporary and classic dance into a seamless performance. They hope to convey to the American audience the depth and range of Chinese culture through a youthful and uniquely Taiwanese performance.
In addition to performing, they will visit universities and cultural organizations in LA to share their art form. They will also tour San Marino and Pasadena during their visit. Lastly, they will visit with San Marino Mayor Eugene Sun between 4:00-5:00 PM on September 5.
This cultural performance is open to the public. Please RSVP at youthambassadors2014@gmail.com
