PLAYLIST: COACHELLA ELECTRIC

Everyone and their mommas has made Coachella playlists, but they usually highlight the live acts… and understandably so. Last year, with electronic music spawning an economic and cultural phenomenon stateside (our European buddies were way ahead of us), it made sense to use your precious Coachella time to see live acts do their thing, as opposed to hugely popular electronic acts like Swedish House Mafia, Avicii and Kaskade, who were regularly touring the US.

However, this year’s Coachella features some names in electronic music who definitely merit some Coachella viewing of their own. Moving away from big-room house acts, this year’s Coachella lineup includes some veritable names in the kind of house and electronica that grooves and flourishes in underground basements and warehouses like that of the Boiler Room’s live streams. If you enjoy techno, funky, deep and beyond, we’ve got just the playlist for you, featuring acts like Maya Jane Coles, Richie Hawtin, TNGHT, Disclosure, Joris Voorn, James Blake and more. Just for good measure, we’ve also thrown in some other electronic acts like Dog Blood (Skrillex and Boys Noize’s acid house side project) and some other surprises.

Click here to open our Spotify playlist and make sure to follow us so you’ll never have to look far for good music again.

Featured below are just some of our picks, if you’re short on time:

James Blake collaborates with fellow Coachella performer, RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan.

Hudson Mohawke’s remix of Disclosure’s jam “White Noise” featuring the vocals of AlunaGeorge. Mohawke and Lunice form the much anticipated duo, TNGHT.

Former Coachella headliner, Radiohead, has their track, “Bloom”, lent a distinctly UK-shuffling beat by Jamie XX.

Joris Voorn’s “Goodbye Fly” brings out an impossibly funky inner groove you never knew you had.
