Got e-waste to dispose or documents to shred? Or maybe you want some free mulch for your garden?
Be sure to mark Saturday, May 12, on your calendar if you need to safely discard or recycle e-waste, securely shred sensitive documents or pick up some free fresh mulch, courtesy of the City of Pasadena. You can do all three at the quarterly Electronic Waste Collection Event at the Rose Bowl.
The popular Electronic Waste Collection Event takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 12, in Parking Lot I of Brookside Park, south of the Rose Bowl, 1001 N. Rose Bowl Dr.
E-waste for this special collection includes computers, keyboards, printers, monitors, laptops, docking stations, scanners, shredders, fax machines, mice, telephones, televisions, flat screens, VCRs, DVD players, PDAs, cassette players, tape drives, stereos and household batteries. Many of these products have parts that will be recycled.
Shred-It, a document shredding company, will be on hand to help residents combat identity theft by providing free destruction of up to five boxes of documents at their on-site mobile shredding units.
To prevent identity theft, residents are advised to shred all sensitive documents, including receipts, checks, pre-approved credit applications/credit card statements, outdated tax returns, envelopes with return address labels and business cards.
After finishing with all that e-cycling and shredding, non-commercial Pasadena residents are welcome to free mulch, providing they have a shovel and something to carry their mulch away with. The mulch is free, and when it’s gone, it’s gone.
