Local Boy Scout Matthew Daugherty, a recent graduate of Monrovia High School and member of local Monrovia Troup 141 has been promoted to Eagle Scout by the 94 year old troop.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America program. Those who attain this rank are often called simply “Eagle”. This title is held for life, thus giving rise to the phrase “Once an Eagle, always an Eagle”. Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout rank has been earned by more than 2 million young men across the country.
In addition to this newest badge, Matthew Daugherty is a former Boy’s State Delegate with the Monrovia American Legion, a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
