After being heavily recruited by Harvard, Yale, Penn, Columbia, and Stanford, to name only a few, Renaud Poizat signed yesterday to run Cross Country and Track at UC Berkley.

He will leave Arcadia in June as the most decorated Cross Country and Track athlete in our school’s history. The list of accomplishments and records on his athletic resume boggles the mind.

Cross Country
Pacific League – 1st Team – 2006 – 2007 – 2008
All-San Gabriel Valley – 1st Team 2007 – 2008; SGV Runner of the Year 2008
All-CIF Division 1 – 2006 – 2007 – 2008
All-State – 3rd Team 2006; 2nd Team 2007; 1st Team 2008
NIKE Nationals – All-American 2008
He is the school record holder in Cross Country over 3 miles (14:35) and 5k (15:12) and represented Arcadia XC in four CIF Finals, four State Finals, and three NIKE Nationals races. His XC teams finished 3rd, 7th, 8th, and 4th at State in Division 1 while he served as Team Captain in 2007 and 2008. In the State XC Finals this year he finished 5th in the Division 1 race in the most competitive State Meet race in history as both #1 Dana Hills and #2 Buchanan smashed the former course team-time records.

Individually, Renaud has claimed AHS course records on Arcadia County Park, Stanford, Mt.SAC (CIF), Woodward Park (State), and Portland Meadows (Nationals) while leading us to team-time school records on each of those courses (as well as Bosco Tech, Woodbridge, Pepperdine, Griffith Park, Clovis, Santa Clarita, Mt. SAC Invite and Apache).

In Track this year, Renaud was All-Pacific League 1st Team in 3 events (800m, 1600m, 3200m) and has already qualified for CIF in the 800m and 1600m (last year he ran a 4:20 mile at CIF). CIF begins this Saturday at Trabuco Hills H.S. In addition, he ran a school record for 5 kilometers on the track at the Arcadia Invitational last year, and has been an integral leg of our two distance relay school records this year at the Mt. SAC Relays (4x1600m – 17:36 and Distance Medley 10:14).

As a member of Senior Men & Women, and a 3.58 GPA student with numerous AP and Honors classes, Renaud is the model student-athlete who has managed to balance family, academics, athletics, and community service. His parents, coaches, teachers, and teammates are all very proud of him! Congratulations Renaud!
