An annual event, The Woman’s Civic League’s May 6 luncheon was again devoted to honoring young women from Pasadena Unified School District’s middle schools who while facing often overwhelming family and personal struggles have managed to keep a positive outlook and have shown very impressive improvement in their grades. The League presented each girl with a Certificate of Achievement and a $100 Target gift card.
Board member Darlene Besocke, table decorator extraordinaire, did all the center pieces comprised of different color tote bags and uniquely designed beach towels for each girl filled with an assortment of colored pencils, adult coloring book, hair ties, manicure set, pocket notepad, frisbee and a little stuffed rabbit.
