From Hunnypot Live to Mario Diaz’s Hotdog: Hey SoCalendar Jan 24-30

Hey SoCal! This week ‘Ozark’ returned to Netflix. But if you’ve been busy binging Laura Linney laundering swamp trash dollars, you may have spaced on your social life. Don’t sweat it, cuz Mike Ciriaco is dishing on where to drop your dollars with this week’s Hey SoCalendar.

Monday

Start the week with some sonic sweetness at Hunnypot Live

Hunnypot pimps out cutting edge music, changing the palate of planetwide patrons through promotion, packaging and planning live music events. Their biweekly free show Hunnypot Live streams every other Monday night and is archived for rebroadcast from the Hunnypot Unlimited website to treat tastemakers in SoCal and around the globe to the tastiest tunes.

Tuesday

Celebrate 3rd Eye Blind’s 25th Anniversary at the Troubadour.

Since opening in 1957, the legendary Troubadour club in West Hollywood has helped launch some of contemporary music’s most talented performers. Greats such as Elton John, James Taylor and Tom Waits performed there early in their careers, and it continues to be a destination for cutting-edge acts and returning music veterans, like the boys of 3rd Eye Blind.

Wednesday

Add hilarity to your hump night with the Indecent Exposure comedy show at The Eagle.

Every Wednesday, Silver Lake’s leather daddies and baby bears can gag on this free live show, hosted by queer comedian Craig Applebaum.

Thursday 1/27

Nerd out at National Geographic Live with “How to Clone a Mammoth.”

National Geographic Emerging Explorer Beth Shapiro investigates if extinct species, like mammoths and passenger pigeons, could be brought back to life

Shapiro travels through the Arctic regions of Siberia and North America to collect the bones, teeth, and other remains of Ice Age giants like mammoths, saber-toothed cats, and giant camels. She extracts DNA from these remains and uses this information to understand how changing climates and increasing human activity have shaped the present-day distribution of species.

Friday 1/28

Drag your ass to Trunks in WeHo for their weekly RuPaul’s Drag race screening party, with special guest Salina Estitties.

Saturday 1/29

Hit up Hollywood for WhoMadeWho at the Avalon, featuring special guest Jan Blomqvist live!

Sunday 1/30

End your week loading up on protein at Mario Diaz’s Hotdog at El Cid.

We’ll be back next week with another Hey SoCalendar. And to catch up on this week’s news, bring it back back to your brain with our newest Deja News.

Party on, SoCal!
