LA County lifeguards, firefighters save stranded sperm whale in Malibu

Los Angeles County lifeguards and firefighters saved a stranded sperm whale Sunday from a Malibu Beach.

Lifeguards were called about the beached whale on the Malibu Surfrider Beach, in the 23000 block of Pacific Coast Highway, around 4:40 p.m., according LA County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman.

The lifeguards and firefighters loaded the whale onto a truck about 5:15 p.. and it was driven to the California Wildlife Rescue organization, Pittman said.
