Anaheim police seek public’s help to recover stolen Olympic gold medal

Anaheim police on Friday asked for the public’s help tracking down an Olympic volleyball player’s stolen gold medal.

The medal belonging to Jordyn Poulter was stolen Wednesday, according to Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Jacob Gallacher.

Poulter won the gold medal last year at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The setter had parked her vehicle in a garage on East Lincoln Avenue in the city about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday and by the time she returned to her unlocked car about 6 p.m. several items were missing, Gallacher said.

“We’re putting out a big call for help from the Anaheim community and surrounding areas,” Gallacher said.

Anyone who has video surveillance that might be helpful or who witnessed something suspicious is asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers, which accepts anonymous tips, at 855-TIP-OCCS.

Police are checking pawn shops and online re-sale sites like eBay or Craigslist, Gallacher said.
