2 racehorses die in stall, barn accidents at Santa Anita, Los Alamitos

State horse racing officials Tuesday reported the recent deaths of two racehorses at Southland tracks — one in a stall accident at Santa Anita Park and one in a barn accident at Los Alamitos Race Course.

The stall accident Tuesday claimed the life of ’20 Fresh Lemonade, who suffered a broken tibia at the Arcadia track, according to the California Horse Racing Board.

The CHRB listed Edwin Alvarez as the horse’s trainer, but no entry for the horse could be found on the Equibase website.

On Friday, 3-year-old filly Urban Dance hurt her shoulder in a barn accident at Los Alamitos, according to the CHRB. According to Equibase, Urban Dance had not yet competed in a race.

Before the latest racehorse deaths, eight horses had died from racing or training injuries this year at Santa Anita, and six at Los Alamitos.
