Don’t Snooze On These Seven Culver City Hot Spots

Is it just us, or is Culver City one of the most slept on neighborhoods in Los Angeles?  The West LA area is home to some of the city’s most compelling real estate like Sony Pictures Studios, The Culver Hotel, and the Helms Bakery District—but for some reason, Culver City doesn’t always receive the hype it deserves.

With this in mind, we began cruising around and put together a cheat-sheet for you curious Angelenos. Check out any of these seven hotspots for a refreshed perspective on one of LA’s most progressive hoods.

Baldwin Hills Lookout Point

Looking for a serious work out that’ll leave you out of breath or a view that’ll leave you breathless? Well you can have both if you make your way out to the Baldwin Hills Lookout Point, also called “The Culver City Stairs”. You can typically find people running up and down the long set of stairs leading right up to an awesome panoramic view of the city that’ll make all those steps worth it.

The Grand Casino

Bringing the culture and cuisine of Argentina to Culver City, the Grand Casino is your one-stop bakery for anything Argentinian. If you haven’t had the chance to try an alfajore or truly experience what can really be made with dulce de leche, it’s time you got acquainted. But what they’re really known for is their empanadas, especially the specialty varieties like lamb vindaloo and chicken mushroom exclusively available every Tuesday at the Main Street Farmer’s market in Culver City.

Café Brazil

Situated on Venice Blvd and shaded behind lush greenery, the low-key Brazilian café is a true diamond in the rough of Culver City. Once you step inside the small restaurant, you get an immediate authentic Brazilian feel. Order a ranchero steak plate with fried plantains and a Guaraná Antartica (authentic Brazilian soda) while you sit back and enjoy the laidback feel of a charming little piece of São Paulo in LA.

The super friendly, down-to-Earth staff will set you up with a complimentary drink while you get your haircut, and will do everything to make sure your taper looks just right for that hot date or job interview you’ve been looking forward to. Whether you stop by for one of the best haircuts you can find in the city or to have a drink in the speakeasy bar in the back, you’ll definitely leave with a great impression – and line up too!

Father’s Office

This Los Angeles based Gastropub is not only known for their seasonal rotation of 36 select craft beers, it’s also home to the one and only “Office Burger”! The famous burger made its debut in Los Angeles over 14 years ago at the original Father’s Office location in Santa Monica and is considered one of the original gourmet burgers. Dry-aged beef, arugula, bleu cheese, and as minimal of additions (no condiments) as possible, this fantastic burger can only be found at one of LA’s original gastropubs. They have several locations, but the one on Helms Ave in Culver City is the only one serving their special micro distilled spirits. Situated right in the heart of the famous Helm’s Bakery District, this is a must-see if you’re in the area.
