Business Profile: Brenton Lee Salon and Studio
By Amelia Favela
Brenton Lee Salon and Studio, also known as B. Lee, is a multi-faceted hair styling salon that focuses on influencing growth and beauty. The cutting-edge studio, located in South Pasadena, does more than just the average cut and color. Founder and owner Brenton Lee believes in giving back to communities through unlimited industry education and charitable events.
With a passion for styling hair since age 13, Lee never gave up on his dream and he established his salon at its current location January 2012, only six years after high school. Since then, the Wella North American Trend Vision Gold Winner’s [2014] business has been flourishing with one-of-a-kind styles that Lee isn’t afraid of sharing.
“Contributing knowledge is essential,” said the young entrepreneur. “Education is the foundation of everything we do.” B. Lee puts this belief into practice through various educational events. Such as: Wow Wednesdays, where hairstylists from other salons are invited for an evening of free hair education; Client Night, an event that welcomes customers to learn how to style their own hair through free demonstrations; and weekly staff events where Lee often invites guest speakers to help educate the in-house team.
Lee’s continued effort to provide unlimited free education is the fulfillment of its motto, “influencing growth and beauty.” Other ways the trend-setting salon puts its core value into practice is by partnering with charities and organizations. For instance, the hairstylist team visited Good Shepherd Center, a shelter for women and children, to cut and style the homeless women’s hair. The caring crew has also welcomed members of Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services for a fun night of hair, makeup, and overall beauty.
“Beauty Gives Back” was another charitable event done by the salon. They held a runway hair show to raise $1,000 for Thirst Project, a foundation dedicated to providing fresh drinking water to people in different countries. To continue contributions to Thirst Project, a portion of every Brenton Lee Pro Flat Iron sold goes to the foundation.
Clients can find every type of hair-related service at the influential salon, including cuts, color, extensions, keratin treatments, relaxers, blowouts, and more. Able to deliver above and beyond results in all areas, the diverse studio takes a special interest in delivering exceptional results in color and extensions.
The challenge for B. Lee is the ongoing competition that comes with being a salon. “There’re salons everywhere,” said Lee. In order to overcome, the studio makes every effort to assure its clients have a memorable experience. “Little things make a big difference,” said Lee. “We do our best to give 110 percent.”
The future for B. Lee lies in the desire to continue to provide an educational environment that will make strong leaders. “My vision is to see people grow; training hairdressers so it can be a career path.”
